If you’re not doing anything tonight and want to watch one of the better horror movies to come out in the last few years check out Orphan. There’s something very disturbing about creepy and evil little kids, especially girls, and Orphan points that out in a very disturbing way.
The movie is about a couple who has suffered through the heartbreak of a baby death and decide to adopt a nine year old girl from a nearby orphanage. I thought that was kind of weird considering they had two other kids but to each their own. The problem for them is they should have waited on a little baby because ending up with a demented psycho is a lot more trying.
Little Esther is not your average nine year old and though her new brother knows that from the get go, his little sister is too small to see what Esther’s really up to and his dad is clueless. Esther’s new mom finally comes around but is it too late to save her family from Esther’s insane plan?
The atmosphere, music, acting and story are all great in this movie. The final ten minutes or so, when we finally are shown why Esther is the way she is takes a twist I’ve never seen in a horror flick and it blew me away. I watch a lot of horror movies and am pretty good at figuring things out but never saw this coming; I doubt anyone else will either.
So take a night off and get ready for a good time with Esther, she’s as nuts as any other kid you’ve seen in movies and worth the watch for sure. I give Orphan an “A” and think you will to.
